Jim Hutchison has spent a combined total of 30 years as an audit professional with two of the largest worldwide accounting firms. He was a partner with one of the firms for 16 years. In 2002, Jim became a Shareholder with Caler, Donten, Levine, Cohen, Porter & Veil, P.A.
Jim has more than 50 years of public accounting experience in the areas of accounting and auditing, tax and financial consulting.
How do you prepare for busy season?
I acquire as much knowledge and information on new accounting and auditing standards. I read and review current accounting publications and other sources to keep up to date.
How do you wind down after busy season?
I take off to the Keys or the Bahamas.

Palm Beach Yacht Club, West Palm Beach (I’ve been a member since 1985.)

To try and outlive my wife! She is always on the go.
What do you like most about being a CPA?
The challenges of constantly keeping up with public accounting. It’s always changing. I also enjoy the personal interaction with so many different clients.
What advice would you give someone considering a CPA career?
The exam is very important and requires a great deal of focus and you want to get it behind you.
