After Tax Season, CDL Employees Get Ready to Volunteer

With the 2017 tax season quickly coming to a close, CDL employees are gearing up to volunteer throughout South Florida. The volunteer events will take place in May and June, with additional fundraisers and service projects being scheduled through the end of the year.

For 31 years, CDL has been committed to serving the local community and making civic leadership an integral part of the Firm. CDL employees sit on non-profit boards and advisory committees, volunteer in the community and make contributions to charities throughout Palm Beach and Martin Counties. As “Team CDL” employees get ready to volunteer, we invite you to come out and support us.

The American Heart Association (AHA) / The American Stroke Association (ASA)

Thursday, May 17 (5:30pm – 8:30pm)

The CycleBar – 4550 Donald Ross Road, #100, Palm Beach Gardens

Team CDL will race to the finish line with eight employees cycling on stationary bikes for top prizes. Local businesses and their teams will compete to win in the categories of “Top Fundraiser,” “Highest Collective Team Mileage” and “Team Spirit” with an awards presentation starting around 7:30pm. CycleNation is the AHA and the ASA’s local and national movement to encourage biking as a way to get heart and brain healthy. Funds raised will help to continue vital community programs in Palm Beach County, while spreading awareness about the number one (heart disease) and number five (stroke) causes of death in America.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Saturday, May 19 (9:00am – 1:00pm)

CPA Day of Service/Armed Forces Day
The Veterans Affairs Medical Center – 7305 North Military Trail, West Palm Beach

Team CDL will trade in their shirts, ties and dresses for more comfortable-style clothing as they take on landscaping and beautifying projects around the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center. CPA Day of Service, initiated by the Florida Institute of CPAs, falls on nationally celebrated Armed Forces Day. To support and honor our local veterans, CDL employees, family, friends, as well as other CPAs around Palm Beach County, will landscape the grounds and gardens of the VA Medical Center. Funds normally earmarked for landscaping will go toward supporting other VA programs in West Palm Beach, and help to enrich the lives of military men and women who have served our country.

Habitat for Humanity Palm Beach County

Saturday, June 16 (12:00pm – 3:00pm)

Women Build 2018
801 5th Street, West Palm Beach

Ten women from Team CDL will paint the interior of a house that will be constructed for a local family, as part of Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build 2018. Forty teams, comprised mainly of women, will begin construction on two homes in mid-April, with Team CDL painting the interior of one of the homes on June 16. Habitat for Humanity has been building affordable homes in Palm Beach County for 30 years. The families invest a minimum of 400 sweat equity hours to build their home. Once completed, the families will be able to purchase the home at a 30-year, no-profit, no-interest loan. The Dedication Ceremony is scheduled in July.
